Gary Reese

 

I retired after 28 years of law enforcement service from the Paducah Police Department in 2007 at the rank of assistant chief of police. At retirement, I was chief of detectives in charge of the Criminal Investigation Division. I am a graduate of Murray State University and received my master’s degree from Murray State in 1987. I’ve instructed criminal justice classes at the West Kentucky Community and Technical College since 1997. I’ve also taught for several years on a contractual basis at the Leadership Development Section of the Department of Criminal Justice Training in Richmond, Kentucky.

 

I am married and have three children. I’ve provided a summary of my academic and professional background below.

·         Selected, trained, supervised, and managed patrol, investigative, and administrative personnel

·         Investigated and managed major criminal cases

·         Developed and coordinated training for a department of 81 sworn personnel

·         Kentucky Law Enforcement Council certified instructor

·         Selected Law Enforcement Officer of the Year for two years

·         Criminal Justice Executive Development graduate

·         Received first Gary L. Reese Award for outstanding leadership

·         Commanded the Administrative Services Division responsible for records management, training, accreditation, internal affairs, evidence, and other support services

·         Supervised and managed an eight member investigative unit
